I’m not sure if or when folks may have noticed this, but Twitter Search now only allows for 4 days of search. That’s right, you can only search tweets up to 4 days old. I’m currently doing a bit of research into this and will hopefully have an in-depth post ready for the start of next week. For the moment I just thought I’d do a quick post in case anyone wasn’t aware of this yet.
Just to point out, I have found no official reason as to why this system has been put in place. We’re speculating here in the office that it may be the pre-cursor to some sort of paid trend analysis platform but there’s nothing (that I’ve so far found) to actually suggest this.
Whatever the reason may be, it begs the question as to why any business would want to get on Twitter except for customer service reasons. Let’s face it, if someone does tweet something especially bad about your brand, it’s gone in 4 days time. That’s little more then a long weekend – and most brands probably aren’t manning the stations over a bank holiday anyway.
Adam did a great post over on ProgrammableWeb. Hopefully I can dig up a bit more info over the weekend.
